What the score is and where the data comes from

What the Business Credit Score measures, and what it is not.

The Business Credit Score is Capvant's own assessment of a UK limited company, built from public register data rather than from any lender's private file on that company.

The scale

Scores run from 1 to 99 and map to five plain-English risk grades, from Minimal risk down to High risk. A grade is easier to act on at a glance than a raw number, and it is what drives alerts, see Monitor alerts.

What it is not

The Business Credit Score by Capvant is an independent statistical assessment based on public register data. It is not provided by a credit reference agency and may differ from scores used by individual lenders.

Individual lenders make their own decisions using their own data and their own criteria, which will not always match this score. Treat it as a useful, independent signal, not a substitute for what a specific lender will decide.

Checking a score never touches your credit file

Viewing, searching or claiming a company on Capvant has no impact on that company's credit score and leaves no search footprint on any credit file. You can look around freely.

Coverage

Every UK limited company on the public register has a Capvant profile. Claiming your own company unlocks the parts of it reserved for the business owner, see Claiming your company.
